Part 2: Everyone came to watch Emma Carter lose. The gym was packed

“My grandfather,” Emma said, spitting a mouthful of blood onto the mat.

The old man in the blue track jacket wiped a tear from his cheek. But it wasn’t sorrow. It was nostalgia. And a very heavy dose of pity.

Ryan scoffed, rolling his shoulders. “What, he’s crying because his little girl is getting crushed?”

“No,” the old man choked out, his eyes suddenly going wide as he recognized the shift in Emma’s posture. “I’m crying because I remember what she did to the Rangers at Camp Mackall. Oh my god… she trained Special Forces.”

Ryan’s smug grin instantly vanished, replaced by a pale, creeping terror. The air in the gym suddenly felt freezing.

Emma looked down and meticulously tightened her black hand wraps. The facade of the struggling underdog completely melted away. Her rigid, traditional karate stance dissolved into a fluid, predatory crouch.

She looked up. Her eyes were dead.

“You should have stopped talking,” she whispered.

Panic overriding his senses, Ryan lunged, throwing a desperate, full-force haymaker.

He never even saw her move.

Emma slipped the punch, stepping effortlessly inside his guard. A surgical palm-strike shattered his equilibrium. A blindingly fast elbow caught his jaw, and a brutal, calculated sweep sent all two-hundred-and-forty pounds of muscle crashing onto the mat.

The entire sequence took exactly 1.4 seconds.

Ryan lay paralyzed, gasping for air, staring up at her in absolute horror. The packed gym was dead silent.

Emma stood over him, perfectly calm. The secret she carried wasn’t just her lethal military past. It was *why* she had taken a beating for five rounds.

“I promised him,” she nodded to her grandfather, “that I’d give every opponent a fair chance to walk away before I broke them. You had five rounds to be a decent human being.”

She leaned in, her voice echoing through the terrified room.

“Now go home, Ryan. I own this gym now.”
