Part 2: PART 1: The grand ballroom of the Astoria Foundation Gala

The flashbulbs erupted like gunfire the second Elena stepped onto the red carpet.

She wore a breathtaking off-the-shoulder black gown. Vintage pearls. A subtle, dangerous smile.

Then, the sea of photographers parted.

Standing in her path was Mia. Twenty-something, pouring out of a crimson high-slit dress, wearing oversized hoop earrings and a triumphant, razor-sharp smirk. The replacement.

Mia intentionally blocked Elena’s way.

“You dressed up nice for a dumped woman,” Mia purred, loud enough for the closest reporters to hear.

Elena didn’t flinch. Her composure was terrifying.

“And you are proud of a man I threw away,” Elena replied calmly, her voice slicing through the noise.

Mia’s smile tightened into a defensive sneer. “At least he *chose* me.”

Elena took one step closer. The camera flashes bounced off her pearls. Her eyes locked onto Mia with absolute, crushing pity.

“Sweetheart,” Elena said, her tone lethal and condescending. “A cheater does not choose. He settles for the easiest to lie to.”

Mia’s smug expression instantly evaporated. She drew a sharp, silent breath, her eyes widening in pure, devastating horror.

Because Elena wasn’t just talking about infidelity.

Behind them, the grand doors of the gala swung open. But it wasn’t Damian stepping out to greet his new bride. It was a swarm of federal agents.

“Did he tell you about the offshore accounts?” Elena whispered softly as the FBI marched down the velvet ropes. “Or the fact that my maiden name is secretly on every patent that built his empire?”

Mia froze, trembling in her red silk.

“I didn’t just leave him,” Elena smiled, turning her back on the younger woman to face the flashing cameras. “I liquidated him. And under that iron-clad pre-nup he made you sign, darling… his federal debts are now entirely yours.”
