Part 2: The Story Continues

The black town car glided into the night, leaving the sprawling estate behind. Inside, Evelyn lowered her phone. The red mark on her cheek throbbed, but her smile was absolute ice.

Back in the glittering marble hall, Julian straightened his cuffs, chest heaving with misplaced triumph. “That’ll teach her,” he spat, turning to his mother, the cold blonde matriarch who had watched the entire altercation.

Before she could reply, Julian’s phone buzzed. Then pinged. Then erupted into a frantic, continuous vibration.

*Declined. Frozen. Access Denied.*

Notifications flooded his screen in a lethal wave. His personal accounts, the corporate offshore funds, the Cayman trusts—all zeroed out in less than thirty seconds.

“Mother…” Julian choked, the color draining from his face. “The accounts. The company. It’s… gone.”

The older woman finally moved. She didn’t look at Julian with maternal concern. Instead, she calmly reached into the pocket of her beige gown, retrieved a ringing burner phone, and answered it.

“It’s done, Evelyn,” the matriarch said, her voice dripping with absolute submission. “He suspected nothing.”

Julian stopped breathing. His own mother?

“You…” he whispered, stumbling back.

“Don’t flatter yourself, Julian,” his mother sneered, looking at him like a stain on the marble floor. “You thought you inherited an empire? You inherited three billion dollars of toxic debt. Evelyn didn’t marry into this family to take our money. She bought our debt to own us. I just chose the winning side.”

Suddenly, the grand crystal chandelier above them flickered and died. The massive biometric doors locked with a heavy, final *clank*. Outside, a sea of red and blue sirens began to flash through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

In the back of the town car, Evelyn poured herself a glass of vintage champagne, raising the flute to the passing city lights.

Checkmate.
