Part 2: My Husband Smashed a Plate Against My Head in Front of His E

The heavy pounding on the front door shattered what little sanity Adrian had left.

When his frantic eyes caught Maya slipping the black flash drive into my hand, he snapped. That drive held the Caldwell family’s darkest, ugliest secret: their entire luxury empire was built on a massive mountain of debt, embezzled directly from my engineering firm’s accounts.

With a primal, teeth-baring roar, Adrian snatched a heavy white ceramic serving dish from the table and hurled it straight at my head.

It violently clipped my left cheek, leaving a fresh, bright-red gash before exploding into shards against the pale marble floor.

I didn’t flinch.

Coolly, I untied the deep-blue silk scarf from my neck and elegantly dabbed the blood dripping down my face. I glanced down at my phone, verifying the encrypted financial files on the drive. Then, I looked up, meeting my husband’s gaze with dead, icy calculation.

“You just destroyed your own future,” I said.

Maya’s face drained of color. She suddenly realized my phone wasn’t just dialed to the police anymore.

“No! Don’t call! Stop her!” Maya shrieked, throwing her hands up in absolute panic, realizing my retaliation was about to financially vaporize every single person in the room.

The illusion of the mighty Caldwells instantly collapsed. The horrifying reality of who I actually was—and whose money they had been stealing—finally dawned on Adrian. My firm wasn’t just my employer. It was my family’s private syndicate.

His rage vanished, replaced by suffocating terror. Adrian dropped heavily to his knees, grinding his tailored suit into the sharp porcelain glass. He threw his bloody hands out, sobbing, “Please! I am sorry!”

I stood like a queen over a ruined court. The guests froze in absolute, breathless shock as the police breached the front hall.

Completely ignoring my husband’s pathetic whimpers, I tapped a single, private speed-dial number.

“Father,” I commanded. “Freeze everything.”
