Part 2: The Story Continues

The heavy silence in the grand hall shattered as the woman in red, Eleanor, staggered back. Her arrogant sneer morphed into a pathetic, trembling mess under the glaring lights of the chandelier.

“I… I can explain!” Eleanor stammered, frantically eyeing the whispering guests on the staircase. “She’s a nobody, Arthur! A rat! I had to get rid of her!”

Arthur, the silver-haired patriarch, didn’t flinch. He didn’t even look at Eleanor. Instead, he turned his steely gaze to the weeping maid.

And then, the unthinkable happened.

The young maid’s desperate sobs abruptly stopped. She calmly wiped a single, perfect tear from her cheek. Her hunched, fearful posture vanished in an instant as she stood up straight, rolling her shoulders with predatory elegance. A slow, chilling smile curled on her lips.

“She wanted to destroy me,” the maid said, her voice dropping into a cold, commanding velvet, “because she realized I wasn’t just here to dust her precious antiques.”

Eleanor stopped breathing, her face draining of color. “No… it can’t be.”

Arthur stepped forward and bowed deeply—not to Eleanor, but to the *maid*. “Welcome home, Miss Sterling.”

The guests gasped collectively. *Sterling?* The billionaire heiress presumed dead in a yacht explosion ten years ago?

Lily casually picked up the pearl necklace from the mahogany table. With a sharp twist, she cracked the largest pearl in half. It was hollow. From inside, she pulled out a tiny, waterproof micro-SD card.

“You planted this on me to get me arrested before I could leave the estate,” Lily whispered, leaning inches from Eleanor’s terrified face. “Because this contains the security footage of you cutting the brake lines on my father’s car.”

Eleanor shrieked and lunged for the card, but Arthur’s bodyguard effortlessly slammed her into the polish wood floor.

Lily unpinned her maid’s apron, letting it flutter down onto her stepmother’s shaking back.

“Scrub the floors while you wait, Eleanor. The police will be here in two minutes.”
