Part 2: A Grieving Billionaire Father Trusted His Elegant New Fiancé

The dining room was bathed in the warm glow of the crystal chandelier, casting long shadows against the dark wood-paneled walls. Sitting at the long table, a young maid in a crisp blue uniform and bright yellow rubber cleaning gloves cradled baby Caleb, who was swaddled tightly in a thick white blanket.

“Good boy,” the maid whispered smoothly, spooning a thick, white substance into the infant’s mouth. For the first time in weeks, Caleb didn’t whimper. He cooed, a soft, happy sound.

But in the doorway, Harrison stood paralyzed.

He had cancelled his evening board meeting, returning home unannounced to a strangely silent house. Seeing a junior maid wearing heavy, bright yellow chemical cleaning gloves feeding his fragile son sent a shockwave of sheer terror through his chest. He clamped a hand over his mouth, his mind racing. Was *this* the reason Caleb was fading? Was his own staff poisoning his boy right under his nose?

Unable to bear it a second longer, Harrison stepped forward.

“Wait!” his voice sliced through the room, sharp and panicked. He stared at the spoon, his tone dropping into a slow, breathless dread. “What exactly is she giving him?”

The young maid didn’t jump. She didn’t drop the spoon. Maintaining a serene, almost chilling calm, she gently took a small cloth and wiped Caleb’s chin.

From the shadows of the velvet-draped windows, Elena, the veteran housekeeper, stepped forward.

“She is giving him actual food, Mr. Whitmore,” Elena said, her voice hard as steel. She slammed a canister of Nurse Brooke’s ‘special formula’ onto the silver tea tray. “Ground oats and whole milk.”

Harrison stared, bewildered. “But the formula—”

“Is a lie,” Elena interrupted. “I took a sample to the pharmacy. It isn’t baby formula, Harrison. It’s dietary chalk laced with heavy laxatives. Your perfect fiancée isn’t trying to cure your son.”

Elena locked eyes with the billionaire, delivering the fatal blow. “She’s slowly erasing your only heir.”
