The billionaire’s champagne glass slipped from his fingers.
*Crash.*
The shattering crystal broke the mansion’s dead silence. He took a trembling step toward the young woman kneeling on the marble floor.
“Clara?” he choked out.
His wife panicked. “Security!” she shrieked, her aristocratic composure completely destroyed. “Throw this lying trash out! Take my son!”
But as the guards rushed forward, something impossible happened.
The nanny stopped crying.
Her trembling shoulders went perfectly still. Slowly, she lifted her head, and the humiliated, terrified expression she’d worn for the last three years vanished. Instead, a chilling, triumphant smile spread across her red cheek.
“Stand down,” the billionaire barked at the guards, his eyes glued to Clara. “What is going on?”
Clara stood up gracefully, gently tucking little Noah behind her. She reached into her cheap uniform pocket and pulled out a crisp, sealed envelope.
“Your wife paid me two million dollars to be the secret surrogate,” Clara said, her voice now dangerously calm, echoing off the high ceilings. “She faked her pregnancy perfectly. She swore I’d never see my baby again.”
The wife lunged for the envelope. “Shut up! Don’t listen to her!”
But the billionaire caught his wife’s wrist, snatching the paper himself.
“I was going to stay away,” Clara whispered, staring dead into the billionaire’s eyes. “Until little Noah got sick last year, and I saw his medical charts. He has a very rare genetic blood type, sir.”
The billionaire ripped open the envelope. His eyes frantically scanned the official DNA lab results.
The blood completely drained from his face.
“She desperately needed an heir to secure her cut of your empire,” Clara said smoothly. “But she didn’t use your DNA.”
The billionaire slowly raised his head, his devastated eyes looking past his wife—locking directly onto his younger, fiercely loyal brother standing frozen in the front row of the crowd.
Clara smirked, wiping a single fake tear from her cheek.
“I am his real mother,” she whispered. “But you aren’t his real father.”
